Dog age calculator
Convert your pet’s age to approximate human years.
Frequently asked questions
How old is a 1-year-old dog in human years?
The AKC chart gives about 15 human years for small, medium, and large dogs, and 12 for giant dogs. These are rough comparisons, not exact measurements.
How old is a 10-year-old dog in human years?
The chart gives 56 for a small dog, 60 for a medium dog, 66 for a large dog, and 79 for a giant dog. Choose the group based on fully grown weight.
Should I use my puppy’s current weight?
Use expected adult weight to choose a size group. This calculator’s dog chart starts at one year old; it does not extrapolate an age for younger puppies.
Why is the result different from another dog calculator?
Different calculators use different charts or research models. This one uses the AKC size-group chart, with an estimate between whole-year entries. The source and complete table are available on the method page.
